The Wing-T has stood the test of time and year in and year out
continues to flourish and adapt with time. I cannot think of any offense that
has stood the test of time. I have learned more about football while studying
this glorious offense. Although I have enjoyed most of my coaching success with
the Double Wing, it is the Wing-T that has made me a better coach. It has made
me a better Double Wing coach. Most of what I do with the DW comes from what I
learned running the WIng-T. The two offenses are so alike. The reads for play-
calling in both offenses begins with the Defensive End and both follow the same
progression.
The only disadvantage to running the Wing-T is that there is the temptation to
run EVERYTHING in the offense. The offense is so far beyond the Buck Sweep
Series. The first Wing-T playbook I put together (which has been passed off by
some as an official University of Delaware playbook) is close to 160
pages and with all the supplements added to it is now over 200 pages. The final
product is now close to 250 pages. These are the series in the playbook:
10 Series - Sprint Series
20 Series - Buck Series
30 Series - Power Series
40 Series - Option Series
50 Series - 3 Step Passing Game
60 Series - Trap Option Series/5 Step Passing Game
80 Series - Belly Series
90 Series - Reach Series
